Edo Kiriko Hanashyo

Minamo is a set of whiskey glass designed in collaboration with Japanese glassware craft manufacturer Edokiro Hanashyo. This company is know to exceel in the art of kiriko, which consist of sculpting pattern on a glass surface.
Together we worked on the idea to evoke the movement of the water, a liquid stream.
The minimalistic shape of the glass takes its references in the geometric patterns traditionally used on the kiriko's cuts. The pattern imagined for this range combines glass transparency and color to create the illusion of fluid and infinite movement.
The flowing notches on the surface of the glass creates an optical illusion according to the way we look at the glass. Minamo is an ode to the thousands of reflections our eyes can catch when looking at moving water or a piece of glass.
